Monday Motivation: Music!

A collection of my favorite workout jams. I tried not to be too heavy on Bassnectar tracks, but I can't help he is a musical, mix-mastering genius.

I like to start my workout with a song that's motivational and has a good "build up". It serves two purposes: 1) to get me in the zone and 2) to transition from work life to workout life. Warm ups are at least 4-7 minutes and I try to chose a song to match it.

I wait to save the heavy stuff for first chunk of my workout (like TKO). This is the part of the workout where I focus more on strength & power, so fewer reps but heavier weight. When i move to the next phase of the workout, I incorporate more cardio based exercises and need really "hype-y" music to match. Sometimes I like to throw dance music in there (Firestone), so my cardio feels more fun and less like hard work. Upbeat is key here!
